Video: Imran Qureshi's discussion at the Met, NY in September.

A very interesting video not only because of Imran's work and thoughts but equally importantly because of the explanation given by Ian Alteveer on the technique of miniature painting and by Navina Haider on the history of miniature painting.

The video shows a lot of exceptionally beautiful works and puts into perspective the common themes running in this practice for the past 500 years - from the courtyards and gardens of the Mughals to that of the Queen's Palace in Bagh-e-Babur in Kabul to the Met's Rooftop and the Central Park in New York.

If you want to know your 'miniature painting history', bookmark this video.

Enjoy !

From the Met, "The extraordinary tradition of miniature painting has provided fertile ground for young artists working in Pakistan, India, and beyond. Join Met curators Ian Alteveer, Maryam Ekhtiar, and Navina Najat Haidar, along with Roof Garden Commission artist Imran Qureshi for a discussion of the medium's rich history and its deep resonances as a contemporary practice. This program is held in conjunction with the exhibition The Roof Garden Commission: Imran Qureshi."
